WORLD DAY FOR WATER CELEBRATED

The celebration of World Rivers Day (20 March), World Forest Day (21 March) and World Water Day (22 March) began on 19 March 2008 with the opening of a photo exhibition entitled Water in the Filodrammatica. The authors of the photographs are members of the eco-centre Young Guardians
of the Environment, a section of the Association “Our Children”. The celebration of these World Days will also involve a number of various events. Involved in this project are the Town of Rijeka – Town Administration Department for Development, Urban Planning, Ecology and Land Management;
the County of Primorje and Gorski Kotar; the Public Institution Priroda; and the Teaching Institute for Public Health. The members of the Blue Patrol of the Young Guardians of the Environment ‘patrolled’ Korzo, Delta and Fiumara, handing out leaflets with information on water protection. After
the exhibition was opened, the Young Guardians of the Environment held a research workshop on waters at the Teaching Institute for Public Health. There are plans to hold a field workshop on Obruč Mountain, in the valley of the Borovišćica torrent.
