GRIFFON VULTURE SAVED FROM A SUBMARINE CAVE AT PRVIĆ ISLAND
A rescue operation was required to save a young griffon
vulture trapped on the shore of a submarine cave at Prvić Island and unable
to find its way out. Unfortunately, young griffon vultures often fall
into the sea when disturbed, and even if they do manage to swim to the
rocky shore, they cannot fly away on their own but need help.
Thanks to the efforts of local residents, in particular
Mr. Miro Babić, Mr. Ljubiša Seršić and Mr. Dragan Brnić who made the rescue
work possible, the vulture was removed from the submarine cave. The workers
of the Public Institution “Priroda” then took it to the Griffon
Vulture Sanctuary at Beli on Cres Island.
