When snow covers the ground, it provides us with an opportunity to spot interesting animal tracks and learn where and how animals move about in their daily search for food or shelter. The photo shows the tracks made by a squirrel. The tracks have a characteristic pattern that is made as the animal hops along the ground, usually going from one tree to another, further off. The prints of the hind feet (paws) are larger than those of the front feet and in the tracks we see them positioned in front of the front feet.
